"GOD - THE SUPPLIER OF ALL NEEDS. Philippians: 4:10-22

Being human is not a sin; it is just reality. We each have frailties and periods of suffering. Often, when difficulties arise, we turn to friends and family for comfort. But these people are human, too, and subject to their own weaknesses and failures.

We fail other people for many reasons. Some have to do with purposeful plans, while others involve subconscious reactions. For instance, a man may avoid visiting his dying brother because he feels inadequate to help. Or a woman might stop calling a widowed friend because she fears facing a similar situation. Too often, friends abandon a person who has made a tragic mistake, like committing adultery, because they refuse to be associated with such an obvious sinner. But most importantly, when it comes to giving lack often prevent us from giving as we may wish. The only one who can provide. Or better still the Great Provider is GOD. Others may fail, but God never fails. Knowing why others fail us is small consolation, but God does provide a source of perfect comfort no human can provide.

Paul the Apostle prays for you and I in Philippians 4:19 that his God “shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.” Apostle Paul was so sure that he had to invite us to experience the kind of God he serves by saying ‘My God’. (I wish you and I can say that much).

God in His capacity as the Great Provider created the whole universe out of nothing. His creation knows no end. It is everlasting, and thus God will provide according to that riches that knows no end. Whao!!!!

We often confuse NEEDS with WANTS. I do not want to go into the study of Economics now, but I do think we need to understand this concept. NEEDS is the most basic concept underlying the states of felt deprivation which include physical needs for food, clothing, warmth, and safety; social needs for belonging and affection; and individual needs for knowledge and self-expression. Whereas WANTS are the form human needs take as they are shaped by culture and individual personality. An American needs food but wants a Big Mac, French fries, and a soft drink. A person in Mauritius needs food but wants a mango, rice, and beans. Wants are shaped by one’s society and are described in terms of objects that will satisfy needs.

God, in His wisdom created all things good and ready for Adam and Eve. There is a purpose for the daylight and night, and God has made provision for all that. We should not limit God when making requests. We need to know how to ask what He has provided for us. We still need to ask. With the help of the Holy Spirit we will surely get there. As ROMANS 8:26 says “Likewise the spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pay for as we ought but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered”.
