DISCIPLESHIP part2 (Related verses – Luke 4:26,19:11-26; Matt 8:9,28:10-18; Mark 1:27,11:28; Philemon vs2)

In continuation of Discipleship, part 2 teaches Jesus Christ’s reasons for coming into the world. Let it be known that our Lord came from Heaven to Earth to show the way. He then went from the Earth to the cross to die, and from the cross to the grave to conquer death, all for the son of man to be redeemed.

The work of redemption is a huge task. Christ has to come as the Son of God from Heaven to become the son of man on Earth. This He came with power and authority as the Son of God to save, heal, forgive and reconcile, thus bringing God’s virtues to man and bringing us closer to God. He was beaten, spit upon, denied and crucified as they would do to a son of man (ordinary man).

But how do we get closer to God? By being faithful, committed and obedient. Jesus tested his disciples in Matt 28 and because they obeyed, full of faith and committed He came closer to them and they were able to see His glory after the resurrection. He has to let them know that He is in control, and that every power in Heaven and Earth has been given unto Him. They must therefore go into the world and make disciples of men.

He has authority and control. He is a commander, who leads the battlefront. Paul the Apostle even employs us to put on the whole armours of God like a military man and be like Jesus Christ. To save those in captive of sins, poverty, evil powers and devil would require more than Sunday-Sunday meetings. It is a war. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). For these reasons we need to take up the whole armour of God, that we may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (vs13).

As Christians our armour of God includes the fruits of the Spirit such as praying, fasting, worships, services, evangelisms, charity, righteousness, love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. All of these are contagious and infectious. Be infected by them and see a new beginning in your life.

Remain Blessed this week
