DISCIPLESHIP (Related verses - John 15:1-17; Luke 19:10; Romans 10:14-15; Luke 6:40; Phil 2:5; Matt 22:5)

From the earliest expression of God’s intent to redeem fallen man, He has appointed a “Seed” that would accomplish the task (Gen. 3:15). That “Seed of the woman” fulfilled in Jesus Christ, was destined to become the “Seed of Abraham” through whom all the nations of the Earth are intended to be blessed (Gal.3:29; Gen.12:3). So it is, from the beginning of the Bible story of redemption, the redeemed are assigned to world evangelisation.

There are just two groups of people in the world: those who have heard the gospel and those who have not. If those who have heard (and believed) refused to tell those who have not heard, God will render to each according “to his deeds.” We are responsible to our generation. Not those who have died (they can not be saved anymore.)

Apostle Paul asks in Romans 10:13-15 “How shall they hear without a preacher?” This does not mean we must enter public ministry to “preach” the gospel. Every believer is assigned a personal “pulpit” – in the home, the community, at the office, or in school – from which to show and tell others the Good News.

Jesus “has came to seek and to save that souls which was lost” (Luke 19:10) since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But how can one man do all the work alone? He needed workers, disciples. This was why He called all the disciples to assist Him in His work of redemption. Jesus trained them as if they were student so as to be like Him.

This can be related to employer/employee contractual arrangement. If employee work hard they get paid and with bonuses. The disciples have got to bear fruits - win lost souls. However, many are called but few are chosen to carry out the redemptive work. There is the multitude and the chosen ones. The multitudes are just numerical while the chosen ones bear fruits and multiply.

Anyone could claim to be a born again Christian. They use the name of Jesus without purpose. But without doing the will of God, productive in the house of God, win lost souls and help the needy one might not be able to call His name with authority and say, “Abba, Father. I know your name. Your name is Wonderful”
